Abhijit Bhattacharya
An MBBS from Calcutta University and a reputed name in Anaesthesiology, Dr Bhattacharya was a dedicated doctor with a smiling face all the time. He was Professor & Head Anaesthesiology, Critical care & Pain Medicine in various Medical colleges and hospitals, Commonwealth Fellow at Great Britain for Intensive Care and many other posts in medical science. He participated in several scientific meetings in different capacities and made a special place among the academic fraternity.
A highly qualified experienced doctor, academician and dedicated teacher, Dr Bhattacharya known as “Chandanda” to his close acquaintances, held high academic positionsin India and abroad. His sense of humour is well known to each and everyone.
He was the founder President of Uttarayan and contributed in adding cultural values of the organisation continuously. He held the post of Vice President before he breathed his last.
His interest in literature, arts, culture, sports made him an outstanding personality. He played the role of “Chandrahas” in “ one of the best productions of Uttarayan, “Phalguni”. His last production “Ashrame Rabindranath “ based on memoir of Pramatha Nath Bisi on the life in Ashram in Shantiniketan, received huge acclaim.
Equally popular for his contribution in sociocultural groups as an organizer and active participant in many cultural groups in Delhi he also was engaged in educational activities simultaneously. He was President of Governing Body, Vinay Nagar Bengali Senior Secondary School. When asked as to how he managed to balance both cultural and professional activities, his response was that the cultural activities were the inspiration for his other activities.
